Winchester & Eastleigh Healthcare NHS Trust provides a complex range of care for around 240,000 people living in mid Hampshire; predominantly Winchester, Eastleigh, Andover, Stockbridge, Bishops Waltham, Alresford and the surrounding area.

The Royal Hampshire County Hospital (RHCH) is located in Winchester and is the main acute hospital for the area. Staff provide a full range of general hospital services – accident and emergency, general and specialist surgery for in-patients and day cases, general medical facilities, intensive care, rehabilitation, chemotherapy, diagnostic facilities, out-patient clinics and paediatric care. Rehabilitation for older people, both on an in-patient and day case basis, is also provided.

On the same site Florence Portal House incorporates a large maternity unit, a neonatal unit, the breast screening unit and some gynaecology services.The Andover War Memorial Hospital (AWMH) located in the centre of Andover hosts a range of community and hospital services, including outpatients, diagnostic imaging, pharmacy and day surgery and the Andover Birth Centre. The newer parts of the hospital provide in-patient rehabilitation services, day hospital facilities and minor injuries unit service.

The Andover site is also home to the Countess Brecknock House Hospice which provides six in-patient beds, day care facilities and a base for the Macmillan Nurses.

Winchester is a small Cathedral City with a population of around 35,000 with a good shopping centre less than a mile or 10 minutes walking distance from the Hospital. Winchester is one hour or less from Waterloo by train; the station being only half a mile away. The M3 motorway provides easy access to London by car and also to Heathrow and Gatwick Airports. Southampton, Portsmouth and Bournemouth are also within easy driving distance.

There are excellent schools both fee paying and non-fee paying in Winchester and Southampton. Winchester has a small theatre which provides a range of entertainment including films. There is a local cinema and, in addition, there are large cinema complexes easily accessible in Basingstoke and Southampton. There is a theatre in Southampton which supports large shows and visiting Opera and Ballet companies. The musical tradition surrounding the Cathedral provides excellent opportunities for both performing and listening to music. The surrounding countryside has many areas of outstanding natural beauty and there are many pleasant villages in which to live. There is easy access to the New Forest and there are excellent opportunities for sailing, sport and general leisure facilities.
