Based: Royal Hampshire County Hospital

The clinical duties will include those normally expected in the Emergency Department of any District General Hospital in the United Kingdom. Duties will be carried out at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital and the Minor Injury Unit at Andover. The Duty rota is based on a 1 in 3 rota with internal prospective cover – which is subject to amendments dependant on departmental requirements.

The post-holder will be expected to reside within 10 miles of the Royal Hampshire County Hospital and hold a current driving licence. (The Medical Director has agreed that there may be exceptions, following agreement of the Lead Consultant in Emergency Medicine.)

The Accident and Emergency department of the Royal Hampshire County Hospital has an annual activity of 47,000 new patients, of which 8500 are children, and 4,000 unscheduled and 1,000 scheduled return patients.

Andover War Memorial Minor Injuries Unit is currently staffed by Emergency Nurse Practitioners (under the supervision of the A&E medical and nurse consultants) and sees 16,000 patients a year.
