We are looking for a Speciality Doctor (middle grade) responsible for the provision of Emergency Medicine .

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES OF POSTS

It is anticipated that the successful candidates will work within a team of 10 Consultant colleagues across the Health Board. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a special interest complimentary to the Health Board’s A&E & Unscheduled Care service. Further, opportunities exist for the candidate to support the Health Board’s:

• Development of telemedicine in Emergency Medicine – the Health Board is soon to acquire the appropriate equipment to allow telemedicine and video conferencing to take place between the two Departments.
• Major Incident Planning arrangements
• Emergency Assessment service development
• Mobile Medical Team service / pre-hospital care arrangements
• Emergency Nurse Practitioner training / development programme
• Teaching commitments at the Regional SHO Training programme at Morriston Hospital.

Withybush General Hospital, Haverfordwest, is a 296 bedded hospital, with a modern well-equipped theatre suite and a new dedicated day surgery unit. Innovative ways of managing elective inpatients are being developed using a new Same Day Admissions Unit and there is a new 10 bedded combined ITU/HDU. A new Emergency and Unscheduled Care Centre and Adult Clinical Decision Unit opened on 14th July 2010.
