Based: Christie Clinic
The Christie NHS Foundation Trust was founded in 1932 and has grown to be the largest Cancer Hospital in the UK covering a population of 4 million in the North West of England. It is also one of the largest cancer centres in Europe. The Trust is a designated teaching hospital of the University of Manchester. All cancer related specialities are fully operational and more than 10,000 new patients with cancer are seen each year.
Main purpose of this Post
To provide the highest standard of medical care for all oncology patients attending The Christie Clinic’s inpatient, day care, and outpatient departments, in addition to relevant NHS outpatient clinics.
To be responsible for the daily management of private patients in The Christie Clinic as directed by the respective admitting Consultant, ensuring that instructions are undertaken as directed.
To ensure the admitting Consultant is informed of any changes in the patient’s condition whilst monitoring the patient in close liaison with the senior nursing staff. Only where immediate medical intervention is judged necessary should the Clinical Fellow take direct action before contacting the Consultant.
The Clinical Fellow is expected to be competent in all aspects of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and to have successfully completed the ALS course.
