To be part of a team that provides medical support to patients and immediate life support to any patient visitor of staff member as required

To assist in the management of patients and to provide back up support for consultants.

Specialist Competencies:

Paediatric-
• Intubation / extubation  skills in paediatrics
• Management of   sedation in line with national guidelines
• Technically competent  to undertake the following procedures for children
- Insertion of chest drains
- bladder catheterisation
- lumbar puncture
- blood gas sampling
- Insertion of arterial; CVP and UAC/UVC lines
• Can calculate drug dosages according to a patient’s weight and clinical condition
• Ability to offer expert clinical advice to children and their families.
• Competent and confident to lead on paediatric advanced life support situations.
• Can interpret radiological images  and can relay information to the Attending Consultant in order to treat issues which may compromise the well-being of the child.
