The Paediatric Unit consists of 40 general paediatric beds, 3 neonatal intensive care, 4 special care cots and 2 high dependency beds.

The unit provides for all aspects of paediatric care with the exception of cardiac and neurosurgery.

Oncology, genito-urinary surgery and ENT contribute significantly to the service.

Paediatric Out-patient and an Urgent Referral Clinic are part of the unit and are situated in a building opposite the hospital.

Radiological services include an open access MRI unit.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The RMO is responsible to the Consultant for in-patient work and occasional cases in out-patients; 24 hours, 7 days per week according to the rota.

To clerk paediatric patients admitted to The Portland Hospital, unless informed otherwise by the admitting Consultant.

The Portland Hospital is an independent hospital – part of the HCA International group which also owns The Princess Grace Hospital, Harley Street Clinic, Wellington Hospital, London Bridge and Lister Hospital.

The Portland Hospital is the only independent hospital that is dedicated to the care of women and children. The 107 beds comprise of a busy obstetric unit with deliveries per annum in excess of 2000.

The Gynaecological Unit treats women with a range of gynaecological disorders and specialises in Minimal Access Surgery
